Brisbane Eights Challenge

With four teenage daughters, who have rowed for their school over the past decade, I was proud to support the inaugural Brisbane Eights Challenge, which was held on Sunday 6 October.

It was fantastic to see a rowing race back on the Brisbane River.

Congratulations to all crews who competed over the 14 or so kilometers from Newstead to West End, especially the St Peters old scholars who won the Open Womens’ category. Well done!

And yes I am a little biased as that is the school my girls rowed and row for.

I understand it was pretty choppy in some parts and a challenge sharing the water with City Cats and jetskis, but all agreed-a great event.

It will return again next year on the 5th July 2014 and it would be great to see even more boats out there.
